It's supposed to stand for "All Hallows Eve", and used to be that people thought the bad spirits would come out on that one night of the year when the veil between the Living World, and the spirit world was thinnest.
Kind of like a night for Hollows to have fun, heh!

Nowadays it's a night when people dress up in costumes, and kids go trick-or-treating. THe party is..um...not really like a Birthday. A birthday is for one specific person, and this is just a big celebration.

The most famous vampire story is about a guy named Dracula. He was a prince a long, long time ago. He was really violent, and got famous for impaling the invading army of turks along the roads to his castle, and the story goes that he refused to die, so even after everybody thought he was dead, he clawed his way out of the grave, and made a deal with the devil - to live forever, and be powerful, and to do that, he had to drink the blood of the living.

Don't worry. It's a lot to take in, but you're doing really well.
