Ichigo wasn't looking to hurt him, just like he wasn't looking to make them worry. Ichigo does a lot of things that he doesn't mean, it seems like. Shiro felt like no matter what he felt, it was the wrong thing to feel. Fear, guilt, neither were ok.
The surprise kissing (if you could even call this thing they do kissing) gets a muffled sound from Shiro, who only puts up a fight for a few seconds before giving in. It was sort of sad, how easy it was to make the Hollow melt.
But you make it so easy to be afraid for you.
