[RL with Xanxus | Karakura ] (Forward dated to Monday morning )

Sunrise was such a quiet time.
Lately Ichigo had gotten used to sunrise's signifying the end of his 'work day' as it were, since he would have to leave off patrolling for the occasional lost soul, or fighting base-level hollows to get ready for school.

Today, though, things were a bit different since he'd had to leave the hidden home of the Vaizards to wait for Xanxus.
A little smirk played at the corners of his mouth at the thought of a decent fight; something that didn't have the lives, or sanity of so many resting on the outcome.

Maybe it was too early for the other guy, but Ichigo wasn't about to let Xanxus get the drop on him. So, he waited in silence, quietly overlooking Karakura town as it started to come awake beneath him while he stood, hovering in midair, close to the river, and the more abandoned warehouse districts. Safer this way, for keeping random bystanders out of the crossfire.

Okay, that was unexpected. A flash-step helped some, but it was that 'chunk of metal' that saved his ass, since Zangetsu's sheer size, combined with enough dexterity to actually spin the blade in his grip kept the rest of that second volley from hitting home.

"I'm not a kid."

He let his sword do the rest of the talking on Xanxus' question about how well he could 'use it', though, and conducted a little test of his own; by pushing off from midair, into a strong upward slash aimed at the older man's chest.

Oh shit giant piece of metal going for him while he's in midair. Not the best of places for Xanxus to try to manuever away. Especially when he still didn't want to activate his flames to help him.

He just crossed his forearms in an x across where the brunt of the impact would be. Letting them take the damage his chest might have taken. He griminced as he felt the shark edge slice through his leather suit and nick his arms. Luckily his clothes were thick.

Or else he might have gotten gashes from that one swing.

"How old are you then? How can I be sure you aren't a kid?"

His arms pulled out sharply in the same way they folded, causing the metal edge of his guns to get a tight grip on the slicing edge of the sword.

He leant back slightly to jerk the huge sword forward, giving him momentum to launch a side kick into the strawberry's side.

Oh, Xanxus, you slick bastard you! Grimmjow had pulled a very similar stunt on Ichigo the first time they ever fought, and it is as effective now as it was then.
Really, it's because Ichigo wasn't used to hand-to-hand much, but that's neither here, nor there.

That kick landed, and knocked the wind out of him pretty soundly, so a snappy comeback was cut off. He kept hold of his sword, though, and more through the weight of the blade, combined with inertia than any sort of purposeful design was Ichigo able to jerk Zangetsu back from the crossed hold of those guns.

The Shinigami let himself fall, though, and turned enough to land in a crouch on the ground, though an eye was still kept on Xanxus throughout.
Ichigo had a couple of tricks up his sleeve, too, and wasn't about to lay all his cards out for a little thing like first blood.

This is because you fail to learn from past mistakes Strawberry-chan. Which is good for Xanxus because he excells at hand-to-hand seeing as it causes a slower and more painful death than his guns do.

Xanxus tsk'd when the boy got away and twisted so he would land with his knees slightly bent (To absorb the shock of landing). Unlike the other he didn't have the ability to float in midair without help. He paused for a second to regain his bearing before shooting off from his place has enough to make the other blink. He was much faster on land than he was on the air after all.

The guns had been replaced with a flash of his wrists to leave him bare-handed and seemingly going in for a forward-punch to Ichigo's face. Instead of connecting Xanxus planned to do a double-feint and get a knee strike into an unprotected area that he could find.

Sometimes, Ichigo absolutely failed to learn from past mistakes, but he wasn't completely dense.
And so, instead of meeting that bum-rush head on, the shinigami shunpoed away...

...Which, when he reappeared, put him directly behind Xanxus' unprotected back.
But, instead of capitalizing on the possible weakness, Ichigo did not strike out seeking to cut the other man in two.
Instead he twisted the cleaver-like zanpakuto in his hands, and brought the flat of the blade up to, hopefully, knock the wind out of Xanxus as well.

"So...gonna...tell me...your...name?"
Still trying to catch his breath, it wasn't until the last word that the shinigami struck.
